After pressing the power switch, you need to keep your computer off for thirty seconds. This allows the electrical charge in the system to drain completely. This in turn lets the RAM clear properly. This is important, when you are cold booting your system. Clearing RAM also helps to lessen the strain on some of the hardware components of your system.

If you reboot your computer unintended, your monitor goes dark and then you can see the usual startup routine of your computer. Unintended reboots may be caused by an electrical discharge near the computer or by power cut.
