Improve Computer Performance

Improving your computer’s performance.

If your computer freezes or crashes, when you need it the most, you may feel frustrated. However, following some simple steps can solve all your problems. You can easily improve your computer’s performance and keep it running for a longer period with the help of such easy, economical and creative methods.

1.         Disk Cleanup:

Disk Cleanup is a process of removing unwanted programs from your PC.  To use Disk Cleanup, click My Computer-> Local Disk->Properties->Disk Cleanup. You can use the Disk Cleanup tool to locate the entire internet files and temporary files in windows that are hidden on your PC. After it locates those files, you can select the files you want to delete. If you use this tool to delete the unnecessary files at least once a week, you can improve your computer’s performance easily.

2.         Error checking:

Your drive may develop bad sectors, which make it hard to write data to your drive. This can also reduce the speed of your disk’s performance. It may even disturb the integrity of files that you have saved already. You can make use of error checking facilities and fix those bad sectors on your drive. In order to use the error checking function, you need to close all the files that are open. Then click Start->My Computer->Local disk->properties. Then click on the Tools tab and Check Now. You would find options in the check box- Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. You can select the second option and then click start. If any bad sectors are found, you can choose the first option to fix them.

3.         Virus scan:

Slow computer performance is often linked to malware, adware and spyware on your PC. They may even steal your personal information. Hence, it is advisable to install a virus scan program. You can improve your computer’s performance and prevent many computer problems by installing an effective virus scan program.

4.         Defragmenter:

Fragmentation of your files can affect the overall performance of your system. It occurs when the Operating System finds it difficult to allocate sufficient space to store a file as a unit. Larger files and large number of files can also contribute to fragmentation and consequently slow down the performance of the system.  Using a disk defragmenter can alleviate these problems. Defragmenter moves the pieces of files and folder, so that each can occupy a single space on the hard drive. In order to improve your computer’s performance, it is advisable to run a disk defragmenter program at least once in a month. It takes a long time to run this program, so it is better to run it overnight.

5.         Using a firewall program:

A firewall program helps to prevent your computer from viruses, hijackers and hackers. You can find several free firewall programs available online.

Improve Computer Performance ideas, techniques and tips are part of a number of overall methods, and are a few tried and tested ways to speed computer up.

Speed Up Your Computer

Computer errors can be very frustrating! In today’s world where more and more people make use of a PC in their daily work, even a minor computer issue can prove.

The Easiest Ways To Improve Computer Performance

Cleaning up invalid registry entries and fixing registry errors not only stop system from crashing, but also improve your computer performance. Unfortunately, Windows do not offer a registry optimizer for users.

Improve Computer Performance

How to Improve Computer Performance …

Do you find your computer can not work efficiently as it is supposed to do? But all the running parts are still working very well and not attacked by any virus.

Hard Drives Affect Computer Performance

It is also important that your hard discs are of optimum "health".  There are many reasons why your discs may be suffering.  Firstly, there is a possibility of formation of bad sectors on the  hard disk of your computer. You can run the “Check Disk” application, this will scan your hard disk for any defects and according fix your hard disk. This step will again help you to move toward a solution for your computers performance problems.

Hard DriveAlternatively your performance issue can be easily tackled if you install a higher capacity hard drive into your PC. Alternatively use an external portable drive that can store some files which again will free space on the internal hard disk and will undoubtedly increase the performance of your computer.

Disc DriveAnother way to increase the performance of your computer, again hard drive related, is by using defragmenter software. On a new computer the information is stored as continuous blocks. Due to the process of daily storage and deletion of information when using your computer, these information blocks become discontinuous and thus retrieval of data becomes slower, as the computer has to search for the relevant additional data. Running the defragmenter software on the computers hard drive, the information on the disk is again arranged into continuous blocks, hence speeding up the computer due to the data once again being arranged in a logical order.

Furthermore, there may be files stored on your PC which are no longer used or have been deleted, or are temporary files used for internet browsing or for temporary storage of programs that have been run, but are no longer required.  By eliminating these programs new space is created on the hard drive, hence as discussed previously this will increase the performance of your computer.  For this purpose you can use a disk cleanup program. Disk cleanup programs will remove all the files from the recycle bin, the temporary internet files,  the installed programs that are no longer being used by you and in turn increase your computers performance.   As again you have changed the file arrangement of your hard drive you should now again run the defragmenter program to resolve any performance issues relating to file fragmentation.
